Our students in 7th to 12th grades meet every Wednesday from 5:15 to 8:00pm for a time of teaching, worship, and reconnecting with friends. Each evening includes a time for students to meet with their leaders in small groups. The evening ends with a time for students and leaders to hang out and grab a bite to eat from our cafe. The goal of our weekly meeting is to bring students into an environment where God is the focus. We believe that dynamic worship helps students and leaders to cultivate passion for God. Our team of leaders are challenging this generation of students to ask tough questions, do hard things, cultivate healthy relationships, establish moral boundaries, love their family, take responsibility for their faith development, stop being selfish, respect authority, put others first, make wise choices, share the gospel, and discover and live in God's great love! No programs for this age group are offered on Sunday mornings as we feel they need to participate in the worship service with adults as well as serve the body in some ministry. Our vision is to partner with parents to lead students into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ by creating environments and providing relationships in which students are encouraged to prioritize their relationship with Christ, learn to think biblically, influence their friends, and experience personal ministry.
Too many students are walking away from the church and their faith today and we want to change that! We believe that in order to do this we must offer more than just a youth group program. We feel that we must partner with parents and help them connect with the heart of their teen. Parents have a much greater opportunity to influence the life of their teen than our youth leaders do, so we constantly seek out practical ways to maximize that influence. We love having parents serve as leaders or just hang out with us on Wednesday nights! Hint, hint!
In addition to the parents, we feel that many students need a circle of Godly adults around them who are consistently demonstrating what it looks like to follow Christ. We seek to connect students to these adults by getting them involved in small groups, ministry teams, and the larger community of faith within the local church. Finally, we believe that if students are going to become passionate followers of Christ in today's culture then we must help them cultivate a biblical worldview. We must teach them to study the scriptures, to ask tough questions, to learn to hear the voice of God, and to engage their minds and learn to think critically and biblically about their culture. Parents, please check back here often as this is the place to find out what's going on with ONEEIGHTY. We will post our teaching series here so that you can know what your student is learning and then ask some specific questions. We will also post information about retreats, camps, and special events along with any forms that you will need to fill out. Lastly, we will provide information about any upcoming parent forums. These forums are held a couple of times throughout the year and cover relevant topics to you and your teen.
